A retreat where everything has been prepared for you, and nothing is expected of you.
The Sukha retreat is Ayurveda without the timetable.
Designed by an experienced Ayurvedic practitioner, Sukha gives you the rare opportunity to experience Ayurvedic living at your own pace. Your cabin, kitchen and surroundings have all been thoughtfully prepared, leaving you free to rest, cook, walk, read or simply do nothing at all.
Should you wish for guidance, consultations or treatments are available—but they are never expected. Sukha is about creating the space for your own rhythm to emerge.
3 nights from €585 or 5 nights from €915

Sukha is a Sanskrit word which can be translated as “happiness,” “ease” or “bliss.” Its literal translation is often given as “good space,” coming from the Sanskrit words, su (good) and kha (space).
In the “Rig Veda” it has often been explained in contrast to preya (pleasure). This is because sukha is a deep and lasting state of happiness, while preya is a temporary state, or a passing pleasure.
Whether you’re discovering Ayurveda for the first time or looking for a place to deepen an existing practice, Sukha offers the freedom to follow your own rhythm.

THE EXPERIENCE
The Ayurvedic Cabin

On arrival you will find your cabin prepared — the Ayurvedic hamper stocked with organic ghee, black sesame oil, a tongue scraper, warming spices, herbal teas and Ayurvedic snack balls. Your kitchen holds everything you need to cook simply and well, including all the ingredients for kicharee, Ayurveda’s most beloved cleansing dish.
We will provide you with a seasonal dinacharya — a daily rhythm guide drawn from Ayurvedic tradition — offering suggested timings for waking, self-care, meals, movement, meditation and rest. Dinacharya is one of Ayurveda’s most powerful tools for restoring balance; not a rigid timetable, but a gentle framework that works with the natural rhythms of the day and the season rather than against them. You are free to follow it as closely or as loosely as feels right for where you are.
Sukha is a space to slow down, observe and listen — to the rhythm of the day, to the turning of the season, to what your own body is asking for when the noise of ordinary life falls away. You may choose to spend your days entirely within the sanctuary, resting, cooking, reading and walking the rewilded land. Or you may feel drawn to venture out into the wild beauty of East Clare — to the ancient lakes scattered across the landscape, the quiet hill walks, the windswept bogland and the narrow meandering roads.
The retreat is held, but never directed.

Dronagiri – An 8 acre botanical & Nature Sanctuary
Step outside your cabin and you are surrounded by a living apothecary. California poppy, arnica, valerian, lavender, yarrow, mugwort, mullein, feverfew, motherwort, inula helenium, mint, rosemary, medicinal trees such as olive, gingko, oak, birch, beech, sweet chestnut and many others grow alongside over 3,000 native Irish trees planted since 2019. Pick fresh herbs for your cooking, sit among the plants, or simply breathe in the particular quality of air that comes from living, healing land.
Dronagiri has been rewilding since 2019. The wildlife — birds, insects, small mammals — is returning season by season. There is always something to notice, if you slow down enough to look.
